Why Bol/Brač is a Must See Location on Your Croatia Cruise Vacation
The city of Bol is a real surfers paradise due to the constantly blowing favorable wind. Along the beach and along the coastal path there are a whole range of hotel complexes with a high category as well as private apartments.
In addition to the urban center, there is a baroque summer residence, a fort, a parish church and a market. A Dominican monastery, one of the most beautiful in Europe, rises from the east side of the Glavica peninsula.
There are extremely valuable sites just two hours’ walk from Bol – the “Blaca Desert” (a church and monastery from the 16th century) and the “Dragon’s Cave” (a cave with many reliefs, glagolites).
Brac has everything for the tourist – a mild climate, beautiful beaches plus cultural and historical atrractions. Every summer the Bol festival takes place with numerous concerts and plays.
Historical attractions include the Dominican monastery with its museum that contains exhibits of antique underwater archeology, baroque paintings, interesting numistatic collection and much more. Also, the Baroque 17th century palace today houses the gallery of Branislav Dešković with valuable pieces of Croatian contemporary art.
Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape) Beach
Bol mainly owes its popularity to the Zlatni rat (Golden cape) beach, that stretches 500 metres into the sea and shifts depending on the direction of the wind and the action of the waves.
The beach “Zlatni rat” is one of the largest and most beautiful natural beaches on the Adriatic.
Like a hedgehog that reaches almost half a kilometer into the sea, it grows through deposits of small pebbles and changes its appearance depending on the direction of the wind and the waves.
In the surrounding area of Bol are other lovely beaches, as well as the Blaca Hermitage located in the area of the island’s gorges. This monastery is accessible only on foot and is known for its unique museum collection and mystic reflective ambience.
Bol also offers facilities for water sports, tennis, extreme sports, biking, kayaking and more.
